KES NYC: NYFW

I was happy to be invited to NYFW for the second time this past Fall, not really sure how this happened, somebody pinch me please.  On that note, to be honest, I was also excited (and humbled) to have only been invited to a few shows and was actually able to attend most and not be totally overwhelmed (I’ve seen the chaos and the stress of bloggers jumping from one show to the next, and let me tell you, it’s NOT pretty).  KES NYC was one of the shows I attended and it took place at the new Beekman Hotel...yasssssssss, check and check.  Lia Kes grew up in northern Israel and this upbringing influenced her simple and practical design of clothing.  Her clothes have a meticulous attention to detail with a unique sophistication.  Kes likes to dress the modern woman from day to night and she does it with a powerful yet vulnerable appeal-making women feel empowered and naturally beautiful at the same time.

Here are a few shots from the show; SO in love with the beautiful lines and the colors-I’ll take all the pieces please!

HOBO's Fall 2017 Shoot with Anne Menke: Behind the Scenes!

Less than two weeks ago I had the pleasure of collaborating with HOBO on their Fall Photoshoot which took place in the woods in Upstate NY on one of the warmest days in April.  I was asked to be their Blogger onsite (was SO humbled) to get behind the scenes footage throughout the day and what can I say, I fell in love with the brand.  Maybe it was the dreamy woods we were in or maybe it was seeing the amazing photographer Anne Menke in person, effortlessly at work.  Or maybe it was the coolest HOBO crew ever (from Melissa, Beth, Stacy, Ginny) to the gorgeous models Alima and Anja, to Production, Props, Wardrobe, Glam and the rest of the gang, even the catered food from Kathleen's Tea Room was bomb!).  Maybe it was all of the vintage outfits selected by Luis (the stylist) throughout the shoot (all of the right vibes) and I kinda wanted a few of the pieces for myself  (like the cream silk dress or the earth tone long sleeve dress you'll see in some of my pictures below) or maybe it was just ALL of the beautiful handcrafted leather bags everywhere, literally.  Ok, it was everything!!

HOBO was founded in 1991 in Annapolis, MD.  Check out the story of Koren and David here and read about their 70's and hippie influence, their love of life, adventure and belief that "life is better on the road, windows rolled down, with Stevie Nicks playing on the radio". Can I get a HELL YEAH??!! "Just like the white winged dove sings a song sounds like she's singing...Ooo, Ooo, Ooo".  "Edge of Seventeen", one of my all time fave Stevie Nicks songs EVER!  Actually, I'm playing it now as I write this blog post.  All I need is a cocktail in hand and I'll be set.  **goes to kitchen, pops open the Iced Wine from Canada that has been in the fridge for over a year**

I hope you fall in love with the brand as much as I did and I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I had a blast taking them.  I especially love the ECLIPSE hobo bag (one of Koren's picks) and all of their clutches.  And, just in time for Mother's Day right around the corner, go check them out if you are looking for something special for mom, or maybe you are just looking to buy yourself something special, because after all, hashtag TREATYOSELF!!

Happy early Mother's Day to all my sexy mamas out there and to all the wanderers!  Sending ALL of you who took the time to read this blogpost, lots of LOVE and POSITIVE vibes always (and run and get a HOBO bag, you NEED one of them in your life!).  Huge thank you to the entire HOBO team for being the sweetest and for inviting me to be part of the shoot; I had a blast and can't wait to see the official Fall Collection photos by Anne Menke; stay tuned on their website to see her beautiful work!!

xoxo

But first, Ludlow Coffee.

On Mother's Day I literally get to pick where to eat in the city, I get to roam around wherever I want and for as long as I want, I take as many Instagram pictures, drink as much coffee, eat as much as I want, and my daughter Skylah can't complain-it's the best!  I also have a hard time each Mother's Day because I miss my mom (can't believe it's been 3 years since she passed and I hope she's having a blast up above). It's sad not having her here to celebrate her and all that she did for us while she was still here.

This year I picked Sweet Chick on the lower east side for my brunch spot and although we waited about an hour and a half for a table, the fried chicken and waffles were worth it.  We then stopped by Ludlow Coffee Supply (conveniently located a few doors from Sweet Chick)  and had coffee, we walked around, took some pictures, etc. and then I headed to Westchester NY to spend a little time with my sister and her family.  Here are a few pictures from this adorable and totally instagramable coffee spot, if you are around the lower east side, you should totally go check it out, enjoy, xo!

Marissa Webb killin' it at #mwsohostore

The Marissa Webb store is absolutely an Instagram dream, plus everything in there is a MUST have in your closet.  Katy, the sales associate, was the sweetest, not pretentious at ALL and didn't mind chatting (I was on a major caffeine high) with me for well over half an hour.  The interior design skills here are definitely GOALS.  The vibe is contagious; think chic, minimal but edgy, sexy, badass, strong, confident, woman boss.  Gigantic floor to ceiling windows brighten this store with the most beautiful light you've seen.  The fitting rooms all have floor rugs with darling sayings like "hey you sweet thing", um, yes please. Trust me, this store is SO chic with interior design skills ON point.  I was totally obsessed and felt like I wanted to live there, like everyday, and work there too, I would work there for free, or maybe just do their coffee runs, no, really.

Of course I fell in love with the Raina Tassel Lace-Up heels in Nude; can we get a "hell yeah"?.  Valentine's Day is around the corner and this is THE need to have item on my list, period.  That and good food and cocktails. AND the olive green collection at Marissa Webb and all the heels in ALL colors, AND the Kayla Stripe Anorak.  You feeling me yet??  SO, do yourself a favor and check out the store, fall in love, be inspired then DO what you must to get your hands on a pair of her heels (which by the way are SUPER comfortable) and one of her killer outfits (this could mean starving for a few days or maybe not drinking coffee for a month or two, I'm totally ok with that).

Hey, no one said life is easy, BOOM!

Metal Pearl by Madewell

Those who know me well, know that I'm kinda easy to please.  Get me to a good restaurant, get me some good wine, good music, great conversation, some heels and a clutch, and I'm good to go.  Accessories are also in that category of those little things that make me happy.  This metal pearl ring and bracelet from Madewell has me feeling "oh soooo pretty".  Honestly, I get compliments every time I wear them.  I love Madewell and even better, I love me some Madewell on SALE!  There is always something on sale and I always come out of the store with a little something for myself, planned or not planned.  I can't wait to stop by soon for my pre-holiday shopping before the black Friday madness happens this year, yikes, is it Christmas already??  Time flies real fast people, go seize the day before it's gone! xo

Aesop

Aesop is a skin, hair and body care store established in Melborne but with stores in many parts of the world including LA and New York.  They are known for their fine quality products made with plant-based ingredients.  Let's really get down to it, just go visit one of their stores and you will fall in love with the interior design along with their different fragrances.  My faves are the travel "Jet Set Kit" and their "Resurection Duet".  When I was in LA this year, I stopped by the store on Melrose on W. 3rd Street.  The store interior design was totally on point as all of them are and the store manager was the sweetest (I forgot her name but she was the nicest person I met on this trip, no joke) and she gave us recommendations on places to see and places to eat at around LA. If you are ever around Melrose, please stop by the store, it's SO worth a visit.  Also, these products make for a perfect holiday gift or birthday gift; put them on your list!, xo

Public Chicago

I went to Chicago for the first time in April with my husband and we stayed at Public Chicago on the Golden Coast;  it's located in the heart of downtown Chicago.  It was actually a recommendation from a friend I met on Instagram, the darling Ashley Sharma.  Think chic, sexy, sophisticated, effortless comfort with a muted color palette, all conceived by no other than Ian Schrager.  The restaurant, Pump Room, is headed by no other than James Beard award winning chef Jean-George Vongerichten who also happens to be one of my favorite chefs.  Let's just say the food was definitely worth every damn penny!  The room is lit by huge circle chandeliers all connected to each-other and the vibe is chic and glamour.  There is also the Library Room & Coffee Bar serving La Colombe coffee, pastries, juices, and snacks by day and cocktails by night when it turns into a sexy lounge.  I must say the rooms were roomy and the lighting was beautiful in the rooms.  We took the hotel bikes out one day and rode all around downtown Chicago (a little nuts with the wind and traffic but hey, I'm a New Yorker so whatever!).  Really looking forward to going back to Chicago one day, but for now, enjoy these pictures from the hotel, xo.

Mondrian LA

I've stayed at the Mondrian LA twice in the last year and twice this chic and boutique hotel delivered.  Although I didn't get to spend too much time in the hotel because I always have a million things to do and see whenever I visit LA, the rooms are always large, beds are comfortable, service is pretty good (A+ for the cute porters) and the atmosphere is always pumping.  Due to the popularity of the hotel (last time I was there, I spotted Jason Derulo, who btw, said "hello" with a fist pump and a peace sign when I kept repeating "love you love you love you" as he walked to the outdoor pool area), there are a lot of private events that are happening at any given moment, so, be alert, you may spot a celebrity or two or three.  I did see a lot of boob jobs and plump lips one night by Skybar (or every night), their bar above the pool area, and had to leave after a an hour because the music was not loud enough (and the boob jobs were blinding my view).  But, all in all, this place is hip and happening if you want to be in the West Hollywood area.  xo

SO you guys, after months and months of procrastination, I'm finally launching my new BLOG today, yay!  So DAMN proud of myself you guys, this BLOG thing is NOT as easy as it looks!!.

Note to self, really need to get my TRAVEL section organized so I can post stuff there, I have over 7k pictures on my iPhone of all of my travels over the past 2 years, crazy!  So, as much as I wanted the BLOG launch to have everything posted already, I realized that, you know what, life is NOT perfect, I'll get to the rest of the posts in little by little.  For now, thank you for checking out my BLOG, for all the love and encouragement that you give me, and if you are following me on Instagram, thank you for all the likes and comments (always appreciated).  I hope you follow along my blogging adventures and feel free to drop me a line or comment here anytime (or if you just wanna grab coffee, that's fine too:). Here is to #gettingshitdone and #happyfriday! xo

Current Mood Board

I've been reading the Porter Magazine lately and I fell in love with one of Joan Small's quotes. I also love this poster from Breakoutstudio (purchased during my "Off the Page"/Darling event a few weeks ago in Hudson, NY).  I literally cut anything from magazines I love or inspires me and paste it on any wall of the house I feel like, really (washi tape is a MUST).  Doing this keeps me motivated, it inspires me and makes me happy.  And after all, isn't that what makes the day that much better (besides coffee)??  A little inspiration to feed the soul is always a good idea.  xo

I’m determined, that’s the fuel for my fire. I”m like, I’m going to show you. Sooner or later you will see.
